1) His relationship with his father was fantastic right up till his eighth birthday after his mother committed suicide. He was sent to boarding school and his interaction with his father was pretty much cut off then.
2) When Robert was 15, he ran away from his boarding school in an act of rebellion, a desperate last attempt to get his father's attention. He was found 2 hours after he left, stranded on the highway, by his father's men. Uncle Peter was the one who handled the matter; his father didn't even hear about his disappearance.
3) About 2 weeks after he split up his father's company, Robert sent a letter to Dom Cobb. It said Thank you.
