He watched her silently, with a glass of firewhisky in his hand, as she picked up a sparkling silver Christmas trinket from the box sitting on the table next to her. Smiling slightly, she hung it on the 10 foot tall Christmas tree in front of her.
He had asked her casually why she didn’t just conjure a decorated Christmas tree, or buy one. She smiled and shook her head.
She never spoke to him, especially when Lucius was around. She never spoke to anyone when Lucius was around unless she had his permission to. He was making her miserable. Truly glum.
He could feel it.
And he wanted to pull her out of her misery. He wanted to put an honest smile on her face. He wanted her eyes to light up when she saw him, like his did every time he saw her.
A loud crash pulled him out of his thoughts. He turned towards Narcissa. She was bending down, picking up the ornaments in the box that she had knocked over. Her long blonde hair was covering her face, which hew knew was set in a deep frown. He set his glass on the table and walked towards her. Stooping low, he offered, “Let me help you.”
She shook her head and motioned for him to go back. He didn’t comply with her orders and instead chose to pick up the ornaments silently. She slowly turned her face toward him.
For a moment, they were both silent. Until…
“Help me, Severus, help me,” she sobbed.
And then Severus was undone. He pulled her into his arms and apparated them away.
This year, they would have a proper Christmas. This year, she would smile and laugh in joy. This year, she would be happy.
He would make sure of it.
Alright. I have about four more coming up. Has to go through the almighty
strawberrimelon first, like this one has. Without her, this would be filled with mistakes.
