Drabble: The Girlfriend Audition

Title: The Girlfriend Audition

A/N: I originally had this in mind for my hp_spring_flingentry, but I didn't finished it. This works better as a drabble. Optimus is back! =D

“Too tall, too thin, too Hufflepuff-ish,” seventh year Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy said whilst inspecting his fingernails idly. “Next!”

 

By his side, his best friend, Optimus Zabini gaped.

 

Another girl walked in. Optimus recognised her as sixth year Slytherin, Francesca Flint, who was tall and curvy at all the right places.

 

“Right height, right size, but Slytherin…” Scorpius drawled, “I don’t date my own housemates. A shame, really, but…” He ran his fingers through his hair. “Next!” he hollered.

 

The next girl who came in was a Ravenclaw. Optimus had never seen the redhead before today. She had green eyes and long, straight flowing hair. He let his lips tipped up in an appreciative smirk.

 

“Right hair colour, wrong hair style, wrong hair colour, wrong house. Sorry, but no.” Scorpius shook his head, frowning. “Next!”

 

“Woah, Scorpius, wait a minute.” Scorpius turned to him expectantly.

 

“Yes?”

 

“You truly think that you can find the right person for you by doing this? Holding auditions?” Optimus’ disbelief showed in his voice. “You must have lost your marbles, Scorpius!”

 

Scorpius shrugged. “You’ll never know, stranger things have happened.”

 

The next few girls that were here for the audition came and went in a blur. None of them lived up to Scorpius’ expectations.

 

“I think I’ve figured it out.” Optimus’ eyes grew wide at the revelation.

 

“Figured what out?” Scorpius arched an eyebrow expertly.

 

“There’s only one Gryffindor in Hogwarts who is a redhead with curly hair, blue eyes, who is tall and curvy and plays Quidditch and excels at academics all the same.” Optimus laughed. “You actually think that she would come for your audition?”

 

“I don’t know what you are talking about,” Scorpius said icily though the slight blush on his face said otherwise.

 

“I think it might work better if you’d just tell her how you feel,” Optimus continued, obviously enjoying Scorpius’ discomfort. “But then again, she mightn’t reciprocate your feelings. She is, after all, the social butterfly of Gryffindor.”

 

“I don’t know what you are talking about.” Scorpius gritted out, again, but he was cut off by Optimus again.

 

“But then again, you are easily one of the better looking guys in the school that she isn’t really related to… I’d say you have a chance,” Optimus frowned then, “Unless, of course, she is in love with me. Between the both of us, I’m clearly the better catch.”

 

Scorpius rolled his eyes. “Optimus?”

 

“Hmm?”

 

“Shut up.”

 

Optimus smirked. “Never.”

 

However, before Optimus was able to say anything again, there was a knock on the door.

 

“Come in!” Scorpius shouted, glad to have a change of topic.

 

And in came Rose Weasley.

 

Optimus’ chortles could be heard miles away from the Room of Requirements.

Hahaa! Auditions for finding the perfect one...very clever. XD Great idea and theme. It was creative, I don't think I've ever read a fanfic that had auditions for girl/boy-friends. :)

YAY FOR OPTIMUS! I don't know why, but his name makes everything just ten times cooler. :D

I believe that it's all random craziness (plus the fact that my room mates have been watching American idol audition reruns) where the idea came from. I have the weirdest plot bunnies. XD
