Hermione’s secretary walked into her office, holding a familiar looking brown paper bag. “Miss Granger, your lover-boy sent breakfast!”
Hermione only rolled her eyes. “He’s not my ‘lover-boy’,” she chided gently. She took the package from Juliet and opened it, her lips tipping up in a small smile as she saw what it contained.
Juliet leaned forward to sneak a peek. “And you say he’s not your lover-boy! He couldn’t have been any more obvious!”
Hermione chuckled lightly and look out a piece of the toast, buttered and spread with blueberry jam —the only kind of jam she ever took— in the shape of a heart. “You can have one too, if you’d like to.”
“No, thank you,” Juliet declined with a shake of her head, “Lover-boy would be disappointed if you gave it away to me.”
“He got it on the way,” Hermione said with a tired sigh, having had this conversation once too many.
“He flies to work, Miss Granger,” Juliet’s eyes twinkled, “His house and your favourite bistro are on opposite ends of the town. Unless you tell me he takes his broom for a spin every morning around town, lover-boy got it for you specially and you know it.”
Hermione ignored most of her words. “He has a name, you know. You might want to try to use it once in a while.”
“Yes, he does have a rather pleasant-sounding name, but it’s just so much more adorable to see you blush when I call him your lover-boy,” came the simple answer.
“We are colleagues,” Hermione repeated for what seemed to be the millionth time to Juliet, “And very good friends.”
“And he’s also heads over heels in love with you. Everyone knows.”
“Who’s in love with Granger?” Draco asked with a small frown as he walked Hermione’s office, not bothering to knock.
“No one,” Hermione answered just ask Juliet giggled, “Everyone!”
“Well,” Draco said, his frown lightening into a smirk, “‘No one’ and ‘everyone’ sure do have good tastes.”
“And if by good tastes you mean stupid enough to tie themselves to a witch who has all but married her job, well, yes,” Hermione retorted with a snort and a roll of her eyes.
Juliet smothered her giggle and excused herself from Hermione’s office, only turning back to wink at her when Draco proceeded to list out all of Hermione’s attributes.
She caught Hermione’s eyes and mouthed the words ‘lover-boy’, delighting as the blush on Hermione’s face grew.
One of these days, Draco Malfoy would get to Hermione Granger. It was as clear as day.
