A/N: For
drcjsnider who prompted me to write a Scorpius/Rose based on the quote "once in his life, every man is entitled to fall madly in love with a gorgeous redhead". I'm sorry it took so long!
------------------------
“I’m in love with you!” Scorpius blurts out one day, unable to help it.
The thing is Scorpius actually means it. He wouldn’t have said so if he didn’t mean it.
He has never thought too much of his feelings (feelings, pfft) before because it must be some sort of unwritten rule, something that everyone follows right to the last letter, something that goes a bit like:
Once in his life, every man is entitled to fall madly in love with a gorgeous redhead.
This however, Scorpius learns, doesn’t really mean that the redhead in question is obliged to feel the same way.
“Are you out of your freaking mind?” Rose screeches, her eyes bulging out comically and her jaw slack.
It should, though.
“No, I’m not.”
It would make life significantly easier.
“You can’t be in love with me, Scorpius,” Rose tells him patiently, “You don’t do girls like me.”
“I don’t do girls like you,” Scorpius replies evenly, “I just want you.”
Rose gapes at him. “I’m not talking to you any more,” she says, backing a hasty retreat, “You’re too ridiculous to talk to right now.”
“We could talk over dinner?” Scorpius hollers at her and chalks the way she squeaked and runs down the corridor to excitement.
